It was just a platonic love..

This probably happens to you. I used to be in love with America. I grew up in Cuba, just 90 miles from America. Unless you are communist and you live off the government. The rest of us are only thinking about how to swim those 90 miles and set foot on American soil.

Even though most of us in Cuba grow up very poor they are some cases like mine.

My father was the one who dressed me up like an American girl since I was a little girl. teach me how to recite poems against the Cuban system in school and made me love America without even knowing the place.

I want to be American More than an American wants to be America. It was just a platonic love.

I thought I would never meet America.

One day, I had the chance to meet America.

The real America.

America was cold.

America had a deep, sharp gaze.

America looked at me as if to say, "What do you want?" I looked back, silently asking, "What do you care?"

Its white gaze reinforced knowledge and wisdom.

Something that is not negotiable.

Ever since I realized America was everything my father wants for me.

It’s simple: every day is a new beginning. Every day truly offers a fresh start! I once believed that success required a specific image or way of speaking. However, I've learned that as adults, we have the power to reshape our lives and become who we aspire to be.
